Ertuğrul Ghazi (also spelled Ertugrul Gazi) was a 13th-century Turkish warrior who is considered the father of the Ottoman Empire. He was the son of Suleyman Shah, the leader of the Kayı tribe, and his mother's name is unknown. Ertuğrul led his tribe from Central Asia to Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) in the 1220s, fleeing the Mongol conquests. He established a small principality in northwestern Anatolia, and his son, Osman I, later founded the Ottoman Empire.
Ertuğrul is revered by Turks as a national hero. He is often depicted as a brave and just warrior who fought for his people and his faith. He is also known for his wisdom and his ability to unite his tribe.
The Turkish TV series Diriliş: Ertuğrul (Resurrection: Ertuğrul) is based on the life of Ertuğrul Ghazi. The series has been very popular in Turkey and other Muslim countries. It has been credited with promoting Turkish culture and values, and it has also been praised for its historical accuracy.
